Monthly Meetings 2010-2011

We invite you to attend our monthly Special Education Parents, Guardians and Community Group/CAC meetings which are normally held during the regular school year on the first non-holiday Monday of every month from 7pm – 9pm.  This is a great opportunity for you to learn about Special Education services, ask questions of the administrators, socialize, and build a network with other parents and guardians, professionals and community members.  Except for our first meeting of the year, the following topics are tentative and may be modified based on input from the community:

      October 4, 2010                The IEP Process:  Tips and Tricks for a Successful IEP

      November 1, 2010             Collaboration Between Medical and Educational Professionals

      December 6, 2010             Open Forum (no Special Education Director present)

                                               Decide future topics, CAC elections

      January 3, 2011                Pathways to Adult Independence:

                                              Transition Planning and Life Beyond the IEP

      February 7, 2011               Preschool Special Education:  Laying a Strong Foundation

      March 7, 2011                   Summer Community Programs

      April 4, 2011                     Stress Management for Families of Children with Special Needs

      May 2, 2011                      Open Forum (no Special Education Director present)

      June 6, 2011                     Special Education Director’s End of Year Report

All meetings also usually have time for Meet and Greet, Announcements,

Community Concerns and Discussion with the Director of Special Education

Meetings start at 7pm and end promptly at 9pm.
